NFC East Preview

NFC east

Eagles:

The birds are soaring to new heights this year. A fully healthy Wentz, Ertz and a newly acquired Jordan Howard the Eagles are looking to dominate the division. Currently Wentz is the best quarterback in the division and it is not really close. Along with their explosive offense the Eagles have a gritty hard noised defense. Brandon Graham and Derek Barnett are looking to bring it off the edge this year and Malcolm Jenkins is still a top 5 safety in the league. This defense will get after teams while still being able to take deep plays away with their secondary. This team is going to make some serious noise not only in the division but around the league. Look for the birds to not only make the playoffs but have a shot at making it all the way to the Super Bowl.

Cowboys:

We dem second place boyz! Dallas is a very well rounded team with one of the best offensive lines and running backs in the league. Those two assets allow a mediocre Dak Prescott to look like he deserves $40 million. While Dak is a serviceable quarterback I see him as more of a problem than a solution. While he can extend plays and can run an effective offense he doesn’t have the throwing skills to take the Cowboys to the next level. One thing that could help this offense is the fact that Dallas will trot out one of its best defenses in recent memory. Leighton Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith lead the defense and are two of the best young linebackers in the league. With their speed and aggression on defense they’ll be in opposing teams backfields frequently. Dallas will compete with teams from around the league and very well could end up in a wild card spot, but I do not think they have what it takes to win this division.

Giants:

Big blue! More like big poo! How long will it last? How many Eli faces will we have to see before number 10 finally gets handed the clip board on the sideline. I love what Eli has done for this franchise but in 2019 he can not help this team exceed expectations. The Giants added Daniel Jones and also strengthened their incredibly weak offensive line and defense. Deandre Baker may be the steal of the draft. The corner out of Georgia is truly a dawg and finds delight in locking up opposing receivers. The receiving core went from one of the best in the league 2 years ago to one of the worst. With the loss of OBJ, injuries and suspensions they are thin at WR. The Giants will surprise fans and compete with many teams this year. Sadly for Giants fans this team will not be winning the NFC East and will most likely not be competing for a wild card spot. The future could be bright for the Giants but for now we have to suffer.

Redskins:

The Washington whats! 2019 and we have a team named after skin color! Seriously I think this could be the biggest issue in the NFL today. Outside of the terrible name Washington fields an equally terrible team. A fully healthy Derrius Guice can be a real player in this league and will be able to deal some damage this year. The best thing they did this off season was signing hard hitting safety Landon Collins. Some people might say the best thing they did was drafting Haskins out of Ohio State, but not this guy. Sure Haskins throws a good ball and has some serious potential, but without a competent team around him he will fail. The Redskins will win some games this year against bottom tiers, but don’t be shocked when they rack up “L’s”.
