Muffy’s Matchups: Week 0 Picks

Muffy’s Matchups: Week 0 Picks

Can you smell it in the air? I woke up this morning to a CRISP 65 degrees Fahrenheit and knew it was time. Football. Is. HERE.

I have seen a lot of Week 0 slander recently. “Why don’t they just call this Week 1?” completely disregarding the fact that the Mesopotamia’s invented 0 back in Year negative 4 (I don’t adhere to BC & AD).

Anyway’s here we are in Week 0, and I have picks for both games on Saturday night.

Let’s start with SEC Football.

Florida Gators vs Miami Hurricanes

Saturday 8/24, 7 PM ET, ESPN

I am super excited for this game. Lots of expectations heading into this one for the Gators and a bunch of question marks for the Hurricanes. I still don’t love either team and certainly going to stay away from the -7/7.5 spread on Florida. I see these strong defensive teams sticking with what they know, especially Florida’s DL getting to the QB and limiting what Miami QB Jarren Williams does in his debut as the ‘Canes starter. This line opened up at 50, I got it at 48.5 and is currently sitting at 47. I still like this game to be a defensive battle between two solid defenses, with a Miami Offense still trying to find their identity. I see this being around a 24-17 game in favor of the Gators.

My Pick: Florida/Miami UNDER 48.5

Muffy Juicy Bonus: Florida ML / UNDER 48.5 parlay +160

Arizona Wildcats @ Hawaii Rainbow Warriors:

Saturday 8/24, 10:30 PM, CBS Sports

This game should be a high scoring affair, but not enough to get me to bite on the over 73.5. Hawaii this year is a legit contender in the Mountain West, led by QB Cole McDonald. Hawaii also is returning 18 starters from last year. Khalil Tate was the token “Heisman Hopeful” who fell off after a dissappointing year, I believe he’ll bounce back this year to have a productive season, but let’s slow down on any Heisman talk for Tate. I have zero stats, trends, or analytics to back this up but I refuse to go against the Rainbow Warriors on the island!

My Pick: Hawaii +11

Tail, Fade or Stay Off. Enjoy your Saturday and Welcome Back Football!

With Love,
