The SEC East has been top heavy in the past few seasons, but the division as a whole has been trending upwards and has been proving there is more parity from top to bottom, much like its counterpart in the SEC West.

Georgia: (Prediction: 12 Wins)

The reigning back-to-back SEC East champs seem to be on the road to #3 in a row. Kirby Smart has done an incredible job bringing in new talent each year and it is crazy to think that this program hasn’t hit its peak yet with what is coming in the future. Georgia is a true National Championship contender but will not cakewalk into a 12-0 season. They’ll have some true tests along the road but it will be nothing Junior QB Jake Fromm has not seen before.

Key Matchups: vs. Notre Dame (9/21), vs. Florida (11/2), @ Auburn (11/16), vs. Texas A&M (11/23)

Florida: (Prediction:  10 Wins)

Florida is one of the hottest trending programs over the past year. Finishing 2018 strong by destroying Michigan in their bowl game, the Gators only 2 losses from a year ago were to Kentucky, in their best year in program history, and UGA. Dan Mullen will have his guys ready for some big games this year, and look to put his money where his mouth has been all offseason and attempt to take down UGA and earn a trip to Atlanta. QB Feleipe Franks performance is key to how the Gators season will turn out, but a trip to Death Valley does not help their cause in the SEC standings.

Key Matchups: vs. Miami (FL) (8/24), vs. Auburn (10/5), @ LSU (10/12), vs UGA (11/2)

Missouri: (Prediction:  10 Wins)

Mizzou enters 2019 losing Drew Lock but gaining former Clemson QB Kelly Bryant. At the time of this post, there has been no decision made on the appeal of Mizzou’s bowl ban, however, ban or no ban, Mizzou will find motivation from it to put together a great season. With a relatively easy schedule, Mizzou can find themselves at an undefeated 8-0 heading into Athens. It will be interesting to see the decision of the appeal, especially if Mizzou can put together a streak of wins against the lower quality opponents early in their schedule.

Key Matchups: vs. South Carolina (9/21), @ UGA (11/9), vs. Florida (11/16)

South Carolina: (Prediction: 6  Wins)

There is no way around this… the Gamecocks schedule is BRUTAL this season. Will Muschamp will have his guys ready but facing all three teams at the top of my Preseason poll does not help their case. Jake Bentley will have to take better care of the football and be able to produce in the red zone (finished 13th in SEC in 2018) this year to be able to scrape out wins where they can. With the exception of Clemson, the out of conference schedule is weak and where we will see a majority of their wins, but having to face Alabama and Texas A&M out of the west is a difficult task for any team in the SEC East. I still see this team being able to win against most SEC East schools, but just do not have the talent this season to be at the top.

Key Matchups: vs. Alabama (9/14), @ Mizzou (9/21), @ Texas A&M (11/16), vs. Clemson (11/30)

Tennessee: (Prediction: 6  Wins)

2018 was a blah year for Volunteer football, but they did show some bright spots at certain points in the season. With upsets @ Auburn and vs Kentucky, Tennessee and Jeremy Pruitt showed they were at least capable to compete despite a lot of blow out losses. Adding Former Georgia OC Jim Chaney as their new OC will fit the style of Jarrett Guarantano who has dealt with numerous coaching changes throughout his college career. I see 2019 being another year of Tennessee getting their ducks in a row but buy stock now, in a few years it will have some value.

Key Matchups: vs. BYU (9/7), @ Kentucky (11/9), vs. Vanderbilt (11/30)

Kentucky: (Prediction: 6 Wins)

How do you come back from the best season in program history after losing the best offensive and defensive players to ever come through your program? The Wildcats will attempt to this after a historic 10-win season a year ago. QB Terry Wilson is one bright spot in a cloudy offense that only shined occasionally when Benny Snell carried the ball, while defensively they have been on two ends of the spectrum the past 5 years going from absolutely horrible to elite to not knowing what to think of them this year. This defense is not anything to write home about but at least they have potential to be sufficient.

Key Matchups: vs. Tennessee (11/9), vs. Louisville (11/30)

Vanderbilt: (Prediction: 3 Wins)

Oh brother. Vandy does not have many bright spots in a division with four teams trending upwards! The Commodores will either be the puppy that rolls over for belly rubs or the dog that will lift their hind leg on some SEC seasons. Derek Mason is a great coach, his ability to rally his players behind him, ensuring they’ll leave nothing out on the field is one of his best skills. Unfortunately, that does not always translate to winning football games. On the bright side, Vandy will bring back SEC Newcomer of the Year, Ke’Shawn Vaughn who will be one of the top running backs in the SEC East in a division loaded at that position.

Key Matchups: @ Purdue (9/7), vs. UNLV (10/12), @ Tennessee (11/30)
